MS-DRGs
Coder productivity has fallen up to 25% due to increased CMS requirements. Even the most experienced coders are being challenged, and there are two ways to face this challenge, prepared or unprepared. Do not be vulnerable to data inadequacies, inefficiencies and revenue shortfalls. Precyse Solutions is the leader in driving peak performance within HIM departments. Let us help you prepare for the next wave of change through our MS-DRG audits and education services.
RAC Audits
As CMS rolls out its Recovery Audit Contractor initiative across the nation, facilities must be prepared to understand the regulations, know what to expect, how to prepare, and how to minimize the financial impact. The Government’s Committee on Ways and Means estimates that with the expansion of the RAC program, it will save the Medicare Program $10 billion over the next 5 years. RAC is projected to significantly impact healthcare organizations both operationally and financially. Precyse Solutions can help by providing RAC preparedness assessments, RAC audits, coding and documentation education, as well as full RAC program oversight.
Coding and Documentation Education
Our customizable training and mentoring modules lets you tailor the education programs to fit the needs of your team. And our post-testing helps you track your accomplishments as well as recognize where additional training and mentoring could be beneficial. We recommend beginning all engagements with a baseline assessment. Our on-line assessment is tailored to meet the specific needs of each client situation. We evaluate staff skill levels and knowledge base. The results of the assessment identify gaps and weaknesses and allows our education consultants to provide you with a plan for education and improvement. Our fully customizable training modules include:
Coding 101
For individuals who have little or no coding knowledge or experience, this module is especially helpful for facilities that have difficulty recruiting coding professionals and who are interested in providing development opportunities to existing staff. This module is the first step in educating an individual to become an outpatient coder in an acute care or physician practice setting.
Development of a Beginning Coder
For individuals with some coding knowledge and experience, this module is appropriate for facilities with limited coding staff or with nursing staff that wish to transition to coding. This is the second step in educating an individual to become an inpatient coder in a typical acute care hospital.
Improving the Competency of Coding Staff
Tailored for individuals who are currently working as coders or who want to receive additional advanced training to become better coders. These modules will help move coders from one level of competency to another (from outpatient to inpatient coding or from basic inpatient to DRG coding), keep them abreast of the latest IPPS or OPPS changes.
Clinical Documentation Specialists
Designed for individuals who have strong clinical and coding backgrounds and are ready to work side by side with physicians in providing more explicit medical record documentation. Our complete education program fills in the knowledge gaps, whether clinical or coding, to ensure the Clinical Documentation Specialists are prepared to help translate clinical documentation into accurate coding.
